Millersport Lions host district meeting

On Saturday, June 24 Lions members from around the OH7 District gathered to learn about being effective Zone Chairs and to receive their certification training to serve as Guiding Lions to help young and struggling clubs succeed. Incoming District Governor Sara Camacho kicked off the morning session. ID Ron Keller addressed the class and provided some words of encouragement and inspiration.

District Compliance Coordinator Dan Osborn shared the latest information on how clubs can stay compliant with government regulations. Ohio Lions Governor’s Council Chair Dave Stockum encouraged greater focus on diversity and asked members to consider that while women are 51% of the population, they are only 31% of Lions. He explained the necessity of making our clubs more representative of the communities they serve.

Millersport Lion Tamarra Parker-Stephens and Lion Teresa Penn-Lemaster of the Wellston Club received awards as Lion Catchers of the Year for recruiting new members. Parker-Stephens received the first place award and Penn-Lemaster second.
