A single father and two women from their home venture out to face the terrifying creatures to save the life of a young boy. There’s a scene that’s average. When a scientist first tries to create a “magic bullet” in the lab, they load the bullet into the wrong magazine, load it into the gun with the bullet facing the wrong way, and shoot at the target. Katie: They’re the new apex predators of Earth. And we’re the prey. So how do we reclaim our place? The concept is cool. How the idea of creatures can’t go above a certain height. After watching the trailer and seeing Morena Baccarin and Anthony Mackie in the lead roles, I decided to watch it. I was expecting a movie like “A Quiet Place,” but this one lacked intensity and character development. There are only five characters in the movie, a physicist, a father and son, a dead wife/mother, and a friend, and we don’t learn much about them. Once we find the crumbs about the creatures, the movies end. The ending was a bit unsatisfying and needed more resolution. In fact, the mid-credits scene hints at more, but I’m not sure this movie demands a sequel. Still, the movie Squel might help answer all the unanswered questions… too many questions.
