Mr Hobbs is an adorable smooth dachshund who is looking for a new home. He is very sweet and affectionate, but nervous of the world. He can be reactive to strangers, other dogs, novel items, and noises and is looking for someone who will be able to support him as he grows. Mouse is an adorable smooth dachshund who is looking for a new home. He is very sweet and affectionate, but nervous of the world. He finds many different situations scary from windy weather, strangers, other dogs, novel items, and noises. This can be both inside and outside or the home. He is looking for someone who will be able to support him as he grows. Due to him finding the world outside quite scary he is looking for an adult-only home or children 16 and above. He was previously fighting with the other dog in the home so he would do best to be the only pet in the home. He is not cat tested. He would be best to live in an area which was quiet either a rural country road or a cul-de-sac. He can be left for short periods of time, he is crate trained and travels well in the car. Sky was a little worried on arrival but has blossomed into a very friendly, loving girl. She knows ‘sit’, ‘down’ and her name and wants to make friends with everyone she meets. Sky tries to be clean in her kennel so should be housetrained in her new home. She loves her food but her favourite thing is playing fetch with a ball! Sky was involved in a road traffic accident when she was younger and because of this she has three legs. This does not stop her and she runs just as fast as a four legged dog! Sky is not really interested in other dogs but will happily walk near them without being bothered. She would probably prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she can have all the attention and she will bond very quickly to her new owner. She needs a home without cats or small animals. Sky is looking for an experienced owner with someone prepared to put lots of time into her training as she is a breed that will get bored easily. She will need lots of mental stimulation and enrichment and a fairly active home. She could live with teenage children who are used to big dogs. (Photo: RSPCA)
The RSPCA has a litter of Bull breed cross pups who will be ready for adoption when they are old enough (in about two to three weeks). They are going to be large, strong dogs when fully grown and are looking for experienced owners who are prepared to put lots of time into their socialisation and training. They could live with other dogs who can cope with them when they are annoying adolescents! The pups will need a private, secure garden for training and can not be left for more than a couple of hours to begin with. Any children in the home need to be five years or older and experienced with dogs.
Trudy is a very friendly, exuberant girl who has a lot of energy. She knows ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘paw’ and is learning her new name. She likes to play with toys and enjoys her walks so will need someone who can offer her an active home and plenty of mental stimulation. Isla loves people and enjoys learning new tricks. She is very well behaved in a home and is housetrained. She generally walks well on a lead but can be strong occasionally, so she will need potential adopters that are strong enough to cope with this. Isla has many dog friends at the centre but has reacted to smaller dogs in the past, and new owners should be comfortable with having a dog that can react occasionally. She can be easily managed with training but she is looking to be the only dog in the home at this time. Isla loves watching TV, country walks and snuggling up on the sofa. Rodney is a very enthusiastic, friendly, lively boy who is looking for someone experienced with young bull breeds. He wants to say hello to everyone he meets but not everyone appreciates his greeting behaviour (lots of licks and maybe a few nibbles). Rodney knows sit, paw and his name but would benefit from some further training. He enjoys playing with toys and loves his treats. Rodney is still being assessed with other dogs out and about but the RSPCA said he would likely prefer to be the only dog in his new home so that he can have all the attention. He cannot live with cats. Rodney is looking for an experienced, active, adult only home. He will need his own secure garden.
Nessy is a very energetic girl who is looking for a family to share her adventures with. She arrived at the RSPCA very nervous of new people and was extremely touch sensitive which caused difficulty for vet handling. She has since formed strong bonds with her handlers and, through lots of positive training, she has learnt to be more accepting of touch and handling. She will need owners who are experienced with positive reinforcement based training who can continue building her confidence. Ness has been described by the RSPCA as ‘a very sweet girl’ who, once bonded with you, loves to be in your company. The charity added: “She has won over the hearts of all at Mount Noddy as she is such a joy to train. Ness thinks toys are the best thing in the world and becomes over enthusiastic when shes sees them. Due to this, she will need to be the only dog in the home so she doesn’t have to share. Dwayne is a friendly, bouncy boy who loves people and wants to say hello to everyone he meets! Dwayne has grown up in kennels so can be quite worried out and about in the big wide world. He is already improving and learning how to walk nicely on the lead and become less concerned about his surroundings. Dwayne is not housetrained and will need his own garden to help with this. He is friendly and sociable with other dogs but can be a bit exuberant with them initially. He soon calms down and enjoys their company on walks. Figgy is a cheeky, goofy boy who is adored by everyone at the centre, the RSPCA said. Sadly, as a puppy, he was found abandoned in a cardboard box along with his siblings and had ringworm. This has sadly meant he has spent a lot of time at the kennels in the isolation unit until he was clear. The RSPCA is looking for an experienced home who will understand his breed and are willing to follow his exercise plan to build up muscle. He is waiting for his family who understands that despite being a big bouncy boy he is also a very sensitive soul who needs time and support to learn about the big wide world. Louie is a firm favourite amongst kennel staff and has transformed from an anxious, untrusting pup since his arrival. The RSPCA said Louie is a very intelligent, determined boy who knows what he wants and when he wants it! He loves to play and a roll in the long grass, he loves water and enjoys the paddling pool. He has a massive toy box in his kennel and spends his day choosing different toys. Louie is also very sensitive and doesn’t like loud noises, wind or heavy rain. He’ll flink at sudden movements and is worried by new situations. He is looking for an adult only home with one or two people as he would not cope with a busy household, and owners with experience with anxious dogs. Lexi is a happy, friendly girl who likes everyone she meets. She is very affectionate and enjoys attention. In her previous home she was kept in one room and not taken out for walks in recent times so is really enjoying going out and about and exploring again. Lexi is not very keen on other dogs as she has not been socialised in her previous home so will need to be the only pet. She will need to live somewhere where there is assess to quieter walking areas and would not enjoy going round the local park where there are too many other dogs. Lexi is looking for a home without young children and with someone who will not leave her for too long on her own. Sally is a sweet girl who can be a little unsure to begin with and can be quite worried by over handling. She is improving daily and is a happy, friendly girl once she realises you are not going to hurt her. She is a very active, feisty terrier and will need complete training. Sally can be sound sensitive and the kennel environment is not the ideal situation for her. The charity said it is hoping she will blossom and come out of her shell in a new home. Sally enjoys the company of other dogs her own size and would benefit from living with an already established dog in her new home. She can be unsure of larger, bouncy dogs so would benefit from further socialisation. Sally loves playing with toys and turns into a proper little terrier when she rags her soft teddies. Finlay is a worried boy who does not seem to have had a lot of socialisation in the past. He takes a while to bond with new people, especially men so is ideally looking for a female owner. Once he trusts you he is a sweet, affectionate boy who enjoys attention and company. Finlay knows sit and beg on command and enjoys his walks. Unfortunately, probably due to his lack of socialisation, Finlay does not really like other dogs and would prefer to avoid them when out and about. He is also not suitable to live with cats or small animals. Finlay is looking for an experienced, terrier owner with the time and patience to help him settle in a new home. Roscoe is a very friendly, enthusiastic boy who loves attention. He knows sit, his name and paw on command and walks quite well on the lead. He can be very playful and when over excited, overwhelmed or frustrated can be mouthy and may jump up. This mostly occurs when he sees other animals (or anything that worries him) on walks. Roscoe enjoys playing with toys, especially soft squeaky or raggy ones. The RSPCA said Roscoe is a typical, sensitive staffie who is worried by loud noises. Due to his past, he is worried by other dogs and will need walks in quiet areas and patient owners. He also finds it hard to relax in new places so he will need plenty of time to settle in his new home.
Mac is a friendly, exuberant boy who is still very much a pup, the RSPCA said. He is a big boy who weighs around 34kg and just wants to be loved, but sometimes he doesn’t realise how big and strong he can be! He responds well to praise, physical contact and treats, and is ‘terrified’ of loud noises, especially raised voices. He needs patient, kind owners who can commit to continuing his training as he is eager to learn. He loves to play and would happily spend hours in a garden playing with toys. Mac also loves to find a sunny spot to sunbathe in and will snuggle up with his people on the sofa in the evening. He enjoys puzzles and would like his family to create interesting enrichment for him. He will need to be the only pet in the home, ideally without noisy canine neighbours. During his time at the RSPCA, Ralph has matured from a worried adolescent into a big, cheeky, young adult. He is a very clever boy who loves to learn new things but still has his daft, clumsy moments. He knows many commands, such as: sit, down, paw, spin, speak, stay, come, leave, here, kisses and his name. Ralph is very wary of strangers and needs gentle, slow introductions when meeting new people. However, once you have gained his trust he becomes a big, soppy, cuddly boy! He will ideally need to be the only pet in the home but, depending on the circumstances, the RSPCA may consider him living with a large female dog. Mia is a very sweet, friendly girl who loves everyone she meets. The RSPCA has said she is a happy, cheeky soul who is ready to settle down with a loving family. Mia is looking for experienced owners who are around most of the day, and any children in her home must be over 16 years old. She cannot live with other pets due to her predatory instincts. She has previously has issues with lunging at traffic, other animals and wildlife. Due to this she will need a home in a quiet area to help train around this. Ernie is a sweet boy who enjoys being around people, having cuddles and exploring. The RSPCA has limited history on the pup but he has shown himself to be an affectionate sociable dog. However, Ernie can find new things and environments quite scary so is looking for patient adopters who can continue his positive reward based training to engage with him, build his confidence and show him that the world’s not such a scary place. He is a fun and active young dog who can be quite boisterous and would benefit from training so that he can develop into a well mannered boy. Due to this, Ernie would be best suited to an adult only home with a secure large sized garden.
