Hi all! So, this project was something new for me and a real labor of love that took the past few months to complete. Although it does cover some of the more negative aspects of Horizon 4, I hope it doesn’t come off as too harsh. I absolutely adore this game and this review is hopefully a good testament to that. Also – because it did take months to finish, there are some small script inconsistencies (i.e. things I didn’t know about H5 that I do know now) as well as some audio differences as it was recorded over a few days. Either way, I hope that doesn’t distract from the video as a whole. Thanks everyone ❤
Anyone here in 2025?
5:42 Kiera, I can remember most of the supporting cast in this game, which some voice lines can feel a bit out of place but for me the character are def memorable
I’ve just seen from the message center in FH4, that I’ve played it the last time nearly 6 years ago… just 3 months too short.
Sometimes, I don’t care about story. When it comes to racing games, I can honestly take or leave the story. I’m here to race. I get a story in street raving games, criminal life, lots of drama and all that, it’s fine. But for a game like this, I don’t much care for or want a story. The racing alone is enough. The little isolated missions it has are nice, but even they lack a lot of story or reason for them. They get you to drive a variety of vehicles which is nice, but even if they just gave them to you to do tasks without the NPC’s making you do deliveries or whatever, I’d still be good with that.
FORZA HORIZON 4 is a Pig in a Poke. It is a complete disaster. You have to win dozens of races just to play the game. What a joke. BUYER BEWARE.
I HATE THIS GAME !
I bought it on Xbox and played it for only two hours. The cars have no traction on the terrain; they slide around as if on a frozen lake. The car sounds are absolute garbage as well.
It’s the woke millennials and zoomers who are ruining games.
I liked the Top Gear collab.
Never was an online player, so a great deal of these complaints never registered to my personal experience. But, this game was the first to get me involved in cooperative online. Two very fond memories of mine are the hours upon hours of attending Forzathon Live, often showing up early just to greet everyone showing up.
The other was the introduction of Mosler, and the very technical race against max difficulty opponents. Trying time & time again for our team to win, only for a player or 2 to fall short, until inevitably making it on the 20th-some attempt. There have been few moments in a game that I can say have been as satisfying.
❤❤❤
Why buy the fastest car right away people? When you can buy that shit box Mitsubishi galant from 1992 and see if it even can turn into something decent, where maybe you can even barely defeat the ai 😂😂👌 peak gaming experience
36:52 I’m the most average casual player out there. I’ve only won a couple of races in unbeatable so hardly play there and am only ever placed alongside excellent racers when I try to play live. The one time I had a good chance of winning, I was nudged out of the way a couple of checkpoints before finishing which took me from first place to last and I never played a live race again.

The name “LaRacer” still gives me PTSD to this day.
Sounds like a kid being driven all the way back home trying to convince his dad by telling him why that toy is so worth it.
46:35 Idk how you can say that while driving thru that gorgeous snowy night with the subtle lights of the windmills giving the environment an ambient glow
For me, the reasons I couldn’t get into this game was the setting and the soundtrack.
First, setting. I don’t know. You started with Colorado in FH1; then you get the drop-dead gorgeous Italian/French riviera in FH2 thanks to, at the time, next gen consoles; and, then you get Australia, one of if not, the most underutilized location in the world with FH3. So logic dictates that FH4 would raise that bar even higher, right? Uh no, you’re going back to Europe, this time in Scotland. Like, we were already in Europe four years ago, and Scotland just doesn’t come to mind as very scenic (probably because the quintessential stereotype of the whole British isles is that it’s constantly cloudy and rains a lot). Like, at that point, just have the game set in Greece because that would at least give players something pretty to look at it.
Second, the soundtrack. I really couldn’t get into the soundtrack like I could with FH1, FH2 (BEST SOUNDTRACK, BAR NONE), and FH3. Plus, did anyone else find it incredibly odd that the song “All The Stars” by SZA feat. Kendrick Lamar, which was the lead single from the Black Panther movie album, was in the game? I don’t know, I just found it so jarring that that song specifically ended up in a Horizon game so soon after Black Panther came out. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking love that song (definitely the best from the Black Panther album) and it does invoke that kind of vibe or atmosphere that some of the song selections in previous Horizon games give off (think of “Language” by Porter Robinson from FH1 or “Liberate” by Eric Prydz from FH2) that just resonates with Horizon; but, driving to that song in Scotland just doesn’t click for me. But, I’ll admit that it’s really cool that when you pause the game, in the upper right hand corner of the pause menu, there’s a small tile that tells you what song is currently playing and it also includes the album cover from the album that song came from.
One more thing that *REALLY* grinds my gears is how the seasons are presented. By that I mean, the races end in this white void with a VR-like screen that you drive through and that’s how the seasons are presented. That really fucking tanked my immersion in the game. Granted, FH5 is not much better but at least Playground games at least attempted to hide this white void a bit better. Although, I’ll admit that in FH5 there really isn’t that much of a difference in how each of the seasons look.
Sad to see now that the festival playlist in fh4 has been shut down 😢
Fh6 needs a liscense system like tdu2 had. You do a certain amount of races in a few different cars from that class and if you beat 75% of the test you get the liscense and can buy the higher class cars
