Essex and Wales collide when Gavin and Stacey fall in love, bringing their friends, family and baggage with them. With the exception of scenes filmed on location in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including scenes set in Wales. Essex. The house that was used as the Shipmans’ residence. The house (Gavin’s family) is situated in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile north-west of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In series 3, Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers to those in the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo has changed from a T-reg (MY 1999) to an X-reg (MY 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso has changed from a CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to an HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are clearly different cars. Featured in Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). Starring Stephen Fretwell. I have to say I can’t understand the previous reviewer as I feel like I’m on a different planet to everyone else and felt compelled to clarify. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. It has a wonderful cast and a brilliant script written by Ruth Jones and James Cordon. The show revolves around Gavin (an Essex boy) and Stacey (a Barry Island receptionist) who start their relationship over the phone while they’re at work. The feedback on the series has been so good that a second series has already been commissioned.
