Parthenope is the woman who bears the name of her city. Is she a mermaid or a myth? In Greek myth, Parthenope is a mermaid who committed suicide after failing to cast a spell on Odysseus. Her body was brought by the tide to the place where Castel dell’Ovo is now built, and she then gave her name to the city that later became Neapolis, Naples. Paolo directed by Gary is 10/10. Great movie. A great director and a great actor. Gary Oldman definitely carried the whole movie and Paolo Sorrentino made a great choice in casting Gary Oldman as John Cheever. The story is good. The film is typically Artsy Fartsy like all things Paolo Sorrentino. John Cheever is a great character played by the great Gary Oldman and his character definitely made the movie so good. Definitely worth watching if you like Gary Oldman or artistic farts. Paolo Sorrentino is a great director and the movie made me think about myself. It is truly an underrated masterpiece.
