Toyota Innova Crysta’s Replacement: What to Expect?

The discontinuation of the Toyota Innova Crysta in early 2027 leaves a significant gap, especially with its strong demand and fleet operator appeal. A lower-spec hybrid variant of the Innova Hycross, internally codenamed 840D, is poised to take its place.

What’s New?

  • Hybrid Powertrain: The replacement will feature a stronger hybrid system, ensuring compliance with stricter emission norms and superior fuel efficiency.
  • Fleet-Friendly: Positioned as a fleet-oriented model, it will offer fewer features and more cost-effective packaging than the standard Hycross.
  • Flex-Fuel Option: There’s also a possibility of a flex-fuel powertrain, supporting Ethanol blends beyond E20, aligning with India’s push for ethanol-blended fuel.

Why the Delay?

Originally expected to be discontinued around 2025, supply constraints and strong demand extended its lifecycle. The Crysta benefited from these delays, offering significant advantages to customers.

Under the Hood

The replacement is built on Toyota’s IMV platform, featuring a robust ladder-frame chassis.
