I just had my best course launch EVER, and with a much smaller audience than I have on this site.
In the first 12 hours, I generated $5,000 profit, which is more than I did for the entire launch of my first course with this site. I’m highlighting this initial figure because it was my goal for my second 2Create course launch, and I exceeded it significantly.
Let me put this into perspective:
- When I launched my first course on this site in 2014, my list had around *30,000 subscribers. However, many were disengaged or didn’t receive my emails due to spam filters.
- For my latest course, Passive Shirt Profits, my list size was only 1400. This audience was newer and more engaged, with a focused interest in the topic.
There’s a lot of emphasis on growing your email list, but what’s the point if those subscribers want diverse content? That was always a challenge for this site because I covered many different topics over the years.
Here are some lessons I learned from my first course launch:
Low-Balling My Products
I offered a low-priced product with extensive content, thinking it would attract more buyers. However, it demotivated me to market it and attracted people who didn’t invest because they perceived it as lacking value. Super low prices can also convey a message of low quality, as some subscribers told me directly.
Not Paying Attention to Audience Needs
This was perhaps the biggest mistake. I focused on what I wanted to sell instead of listening to what my audience truly needed and wanted. For example, when I launched an affiliate marketing course in 2014, it wasn’t because many people were asking for it; it was based on my own income sources at that time.
Looking back, the combination of a Photoshop course and an affiliate marketing course didn’t make sense for this audience.
